Mars Rover Simulation

Mars Rover Simulation

Students experience the Mars Rover while learning with this system. For this purpose, a Mars Exploration Rover has been produced with a working steering wheel system. The simulation allows the users to complete missions on Mars and explore in topography.

A spherical screen has been used to give the feeling of a 3D environment to the user. This way, the user is able to see the environment in a 180 ° viewing angle, thus strengthening the feeling of being in that environment. Additionally a small screen mounted near the steering wheel helps the user navigate the Rover by showing the momentary map, mission info, coordinates and altitude parametres. The user with the given coordinates, drives through the hills, pits and cliffs based on the true map of Mars to reach the mission base and moves towards a new adventure after being instructed about the region
